eat one's words

A North Carolina grandma was just trying to teach her husband a lesson on wasteful spending on Saturday when she forked over $10 for a scratch-off lottery ticket.

But the lesson backfired and Glenda Blackwell, 57, won a cool $1M after purchasing a winning Carolina Millions ticket from her local Leicester Suttles Quik Mart.

"I was going to be ugly and buy a scratch off to show him they didn't hit," Blackwell told WLOS.

Blackwell bought the ticket in an effort to get her husband Buddy to save his money after he asked her to buy him two Powerball tickets.

"I had to eat my words, but they were worth eating," Blackwell quipped.

had to eat my words
