見慣れない単語です。初めて見るような気がします。従って、意味は知りません。（勉強不足？）

ということで、日本語では乱闘とか取っ組み合いのけんか、などと訳されています。

スペルが何となくフランス語っぽいなと思っていたら、語源がやはりフランス語でした。

古フランス語のmeslerは英語のmixやmingle（混ぜる）という意味で、meleeの語源とされています。同語源の単語として、meddleやmedleyがあるということです。
