I've always been taught that when neighbors or loved ones are sick, you bring them chicken soup. Who knew fried chicken had the same salubrious effect? At least two hospital patients in Houston last month - one cook's ailing, elderly mother, another's ailing, elderly husband - got a real treat: juicy, crunchy, salty, golden, irresistible chicken fried by someone who loves them. Whether it's just what the doctor ordered I can't say, but I guarantee it cheered them up.
