体の部位に関連する表現(2)=shoulder ― straight from the shoulder

日本語で、”肩肘張らずに”と言い、”気負うことなく”、”堅苦しくなく”という意味で用いますが、意味的には英語の"straight from the shoulder"に通ずる部分があるのではないかと思います。

"straight from the shoulder"は、ボクシングでパンチを繰り出すその様に由来する表現のようですが、


率直に、素直に
単刀直入に、


といった意味で用いられています。文法的には副詞としての用法が圧倒的です。

ハイフンで繋げて、"straight-from-the-shoulder"をひとかたまりとして、形容詞的に用いている例もあります。
